Our friends at Oregon State University Extension have put together a great hands-on workshop for you to learn about creating a pollinator hedgerow!
What’s a pollinator hedgerow? It’s a dense, linear planting of flowering shrubs meant to attract our native pollinating insects. OSU Extension is creating a demonstration pollinator hedgerow at the Matteson Forest (Gaston, OR) and you’re invited to help plant it and learn how to create one on your own property. The workshop will cover site selection, choosing and sourcing plants, design, and maintenance. Then you’ll get to grab a shovel and help install a pollinator hedgerow!
Children age 10 and up are welcome with a responsible adult.
What to bring/wear: long plants, sturdy shoes, gloves, water, a folding chair (optional). All tools and coffee/snacks will be provided.
This event is free but registration is required.
Directions: Take Hwy 47 north from Gaston, or south from Forest Grove. Take the turnoff for Hagg Lake/Scoggins Valley Rd.
